How To Blog Ideas and tips on how to start an online blog
I love it when search engines send traffic to my websites! Knowing how to blog and how to drive traffic does not happen by accident. Search engines pay very close attention to the overall content of your site along with your keywords and the structure. Search engines do their best to match those seeking information with ‘authority sites’ that have the searched (new and useful) content. You control your own business when you know how to blog.
How to blog with a better understanding.
I thought I had a good idea how to blog in the beginning. I figured how to blog was just to keep adding more content I added the better. After a lot of work I found this was not the case … the search engines require unique content and structure, eg: How to blog the right way the home page home page could be about football ——>then the second page could be about football teams — and the third page could be about the football players. How to blog and get search engine love is to make sure each page is about that specific subject … if you know how to blog …the search engines will want to french kiss your site and send thousands of people each month.
How to blog with a plan.
To get an idea what people are searching for and what my competition is, I use https://adwords.google.com/o/Targeting/Explorer?__u=1000000000&__c=1000000000&ideaRequestType=KEYWORD_IDEAS#search.none
When I start a new blog, I am looking for a keyword phrase that is highly searched, but has little competition.
Tips: You can sort by competition or global monthly searches. You can also put in your website address and the tool will recommend keyword phrases. (use the phrases for new pages!! 
)
So I have my initial keywords picked out …What else Do I need to do to start an online blog?
1. Your domain name. (i like to fit in two word key phrases ..if they make sense) I recommend using GDI for your domain name and hosting. They own the .ws extension. The .WS extension is becoming well known as ‘WebSite’ . A domain name with the .ws extension is provided free when you host your site with GDI. You may also purchase a .com .net or .info from GDI, however they are acquired through outside sources. (just like any other hosting service would need to do)
Some prefer to buy their .com from Godaddy and “bring it with them”. (the only time this option is available is when you setup your account … not later)

Why would I want to use GDI to start an online BLOG? GDI is not just about domain names and hosting.
*Use them to generate an income for life. (they pay me each month..so my premium hosting is free …however I pay hostgator and godaddy each and every month to host my older sites)
*GDI is the only host that offers WordPress (a highly customizable site building platform used by professional affiliates) and a residual income for only $10 a month.
How to blog with dignity. Why not just use a free or dirt cheap service to start an online blog? The major problem with using cheap and free hosting when you start an online blog is they get abused by the spammers and your sites may get ignored by the search engines! ((each host owns their own block of ip addresses …. That block may be given less attention because of spamming )) eg: I personally made about 15 unique Blogspot blogs …updated them .. and it seemed like they were just a brochure in a box …in my basement! (they never got found) Note: The .info extension is also used a lot by spammers because it is cheap. Personally, I would avoid using the .info domain extension to start an online blog,
2. More about content and structure when you build an online blog.
Make each page about that specific keyword phrase … Make sub-pages to further tune into that niche. This is known as a ‘bread crumb trail’ (( Want to confuse search engines? (and people…. Put every random affiliate program you can find on the front page! Some do this. ))
When you start an online blog, use unique content. Don’t even think about copying an inspiring quote!! (technically… every 4th word should be different from anything on the net)
Note: we want search engine friendly urls … in settings —permalinks —-custom: /%category%/%postname% ….Also … unblock search engines on dashboard
Post often and add related content to each page. Use the keywords a couple of times in each post. eg: you could keep a journal of marketing ideas for your ML’M ideas .. or whatever. As you do this … you will be adding new content. The search engines are always looking for new and unique content and will send those looking for more information to your site!

…You will see a box where you can type something in.
If you choose to put anything there, it will be seen in your
website address BEFORE the domain name you registered.
Eg. If I have http://www.5starmarketing.WS then put ‘blog’ in the blank spot
It will look like http://www.blog.5starmarketing.WS You may choose to use
a keyword or leave it blank. (I prefer blank)
( It may take 1/2 hour or so to see your blog live on the net)

* StatPress Reloaded 1.5.21 (you will see ‘StatPress’ link at the bottom left of your wordpress backoffice) This plugin shows both people and search engine visitor information) … I also use Google Analytics. You need a fr’ee google analytics account. You get a code from them and there are plugins that you can use to insert it into your blog.
* BWP Google XML Sitemaps This helps get your site indexed MUCH faster. It makes a map of your site for the search engines.

Why setup Webmaster Accounts with Google Yahoo and Bing?
They let you access information about your website and let you take actions that will help Search Engines find and index your website and fix some errors. You will need to verify that you own the site by adding a meta tag or uploading a file. After ownership is verified, you will be able to add your sitemap and it will help the Search Engine index all your pages.
*Skype Online Status Plugin … I just added this plugin. I see many show up on my blog confused about GDI. (I can tell by the keywords they are using) Thought if they couldn’t find what they were looking for and wanted to talk live … HERE I AM

I like to submit my “feed” to “RSS feed directories” and also “ping” my blogs RSS feed. Eg; pingler.com.
When you ping your WordPress blog, you are simply alerting the world you have something new and unique
to share. You can ping your site for fr’ee at pingler.com to 82 sites Or search for “ping your blog”

Backlinks
Links from other social sites are great with keywords around and in the link to your blog.
I like doing little screen capture videos and posting them on youtube and linking them back to my site.
Also, Squidoo is a must. (like a minie blog) Write a UNIQUE short article about the subject of your blog (page) then link back to you blog (page specific).

*It’s a great idea to use Gmail with GDI.
GDI will alert you when you have a new lead (someone watches your video)
Sometimes these alerts are blocked by yahoo, hotmail and some cell phone providers email services.
When you get an alert, Let them know you are there to help. Offer a “Gift”. CALL IF YOU CAN.
